Liquid Cooled Cold Plates
Liquids have much higher thermal conductivity than gases, and thus a much higher heat transfer coefficient; liquid cooling is far more effective than gas cooling. Liquid cooling has become a popular designer’s choice for the ever-increasing thermal load cooling requirements of today's industrial applications: i.e., laser, power conversions devices, transportation, and other high power density applications.
SNS Cooling offers the following liquid cooled technology products:
Direct contact cooling / surface contact cooling technology
Gun-drilled cold plate technology
Vacuum-brazed cold plate technology (copper / aluminum)
Direct contact cooling / surface booling cold plates are in direct contact with the device to be cooled, and thus have minimized resistance to heat transfer. Aluminum-filled epoxy is used to fill any small air gaps - the maximum thickness of the epoxy layer is 0.002" - to further reduce the overall thermal resistance of the cold plate. Copper, cupro-nickel, stainless steel, or aluminum tubes can be pressed into the pre-cut grooves for these cold plates.
SNS offers wide range of standard cold plates, as well as custom cold plates to meet specific cooling requirements, and SNS offers a leak-proof design for both inlets / outlets. Please use the link at the bottom of this page to download the application notes for more detailed information on the standard cold plates offered by SNS and how you can custom order cold plates that meet your specific requirements.
